Separate Class for DSR, CSR and SR2000 Eligible Cars to Compete In Seven Races Within Existing NAMEC "CN-C3" and Western Endurance Racing Championship
The North American Modern Endurance Challenge - sanctioned by the National Auto Sport Association - has announced the formation of a separate SR Class that will competed as part of the NAMEC CN-C3 events, but will have its own separate championship and points system for the 2007 season.
This new SR Class will be open to all "purpose-built" CSR, DSR and SR2000 prototypes that meet existing SCCA or similar specifications, with the exception of chassis that were converted into sportsracers from Formula Atlantic or other similar open-wheel race cars. NAMEC is aware of manufacturers requesting FIA homologation of single-seat cars into the CN class, and in anticipation of this, constructors and their customers who do not meet the FIA standard will receive a 24-month grace period to compete in this SR Class to allow them the opportunity to ultimately build CN-C3 Class compliant cars. Any cars successfully homologated by the FIA will automatically move to the CN-C3 Class of competiton. The North American Modern Endurance Challenge (NAMEC) CN-C3 Class is open to sportscar prototypes meeting FIA-CN and C3 specifications and standards.
Constructors currently eligible for the new NAMEC SR Class include, but are not limited to:
- West
- Diasio
- Phoenix
- Elan
- Fusion
- Gloria
- Johnston
- Mallen-Alley
- Speads
- Stohr
Other current constructors can be homologated based on meeting NAMEC specifications.
The NAMEC schedule will feature six races for the championship, including the revived "12 Hours of Thunderhill" race for points that will run concurrently within the "25 Hours of Thunderhill".
